Prologue
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been almost 2 years since the defeat of Naraku and the InuTatchi split up, they each went their own ways and had said their goodbyes, since then Kagome hadn't set foot down the bone-eaters well, were her journey first began. Her life had been going okay, she was nearing the end of her 11th year at school. Kagome had changed, she had been sort of, alone the whole time.
Her typical day is walking to school, talking with her friends, and then coming home again to sit around and be bored all day. She missed the daily adventures that she had in the feudal era with InuYasha and the others, things had really slowed down since then.
But lately, on her way to and from school, she paused for what seemed like an eternity under the sacred tree where she first met InuYasha, five hundred years ago in the feudal era. She had begun to realize how much she really missed him, and she wished that he could show up out of no where and just whisk her away to the feudal era, but it was just another one of her girlish dreams.
When Kagome stood under the tree she often recalled several moments from those days, but mostly memories of InuYasha. She could just see him, yelling, laughing, but mostly calling her name, "Kagome! Kagome!"
Sometimes she could swear she could still hear his voice, and wondered, has he found Kikyou yet? Is he dead? What is he doing right now? She knew that she still cared deeply for him, even though she tried so hard to forget him and get on with her life.
"Kagome dear, stop doodling or you'll be late again," mentioned her mother as she started out the door, she was walking Souta to school as she usually did at this time every morning.
"Yes Mom…see yah later," Kagome replied, taking one more look at the tree Kagome turned and let out a sigh before she began her usual treck to school. As she walked Kagome often recalled what happened when she had parted with InuYasha and the feudal era, forever...

*** Beginning of Flashback***
They had just defeated Naraku and won back the whole sacred jewel. Tiered and overwhelmed with their victory, the InuTatchi decided that a long rest was in order, after all, they each had a lot on their minds.
On their way back to Kaede’s village they ran into Kikyou, as promised before the battle she took the Jewel from them with a promise, "No matter where I'm lead or how long it takes, I swear I shall find a way to destroy the Jewel completely. It has caused too much pain for every one in this world than not."
And with that she was gone, Kagome could tell InuYasha was sad but he refused to let anyone rest until they reached the village, so they kept going until they could see the village in the distance.
That is were the group really began to part. Sango and Miroku were the first to leave, since Sango had finally freed her brother’s soul and Miroku was cured of his 'Wind Tunnel', they left together as they had promised each other.
The promise had been made earlier on before the battle, they had been thought a lot already, Miroku out of no where asked Sango, " Sango I meant it when I asked you if you would be willing to bear my child, Would you?" Kagome and InuYasha had been watching from up above them and both had a blush burning their cheeks as they hear Sango’s reply. "If we make it trough this alive Miroku, yes, I would."
So they had left to start a new life together, Shippou was surprisingly the one who left next. He had decided to go in search of any more fox demons like himself, so after minutes of hugs and tears he left, leaving just the two of them.
For several hours InuYasha and Kagome just sat and enjoyed one another’s company, silently thinking to them selves, during that time InuYasha had come to a decision…one that Kagome knew was around the corner.
So as Kagome prepared to jump down the well and return home for good she turned to face InuYasha, and asked the question that had been on her mind the whole time. "InuYasha, are you sure that going with Kikyo is the right thing to do?"
"Kagome, Kikyo gave her life for mine, it's only right that I repay her with my own. But I will miss you!" Tears Began to come to her eyes as she listened to InuYasha's reply, he had meant those parting words and Kagome knew at that moment that she would never be good enough.
After a hug that lasted a painful eternity to Kagome, they parted and Kagome watched at InuYasha leapt off into the distance trees, her heart shattered.
Looking around her Kagome let her mind memorize her surroundings, closing her eyes she let the wind whip about her. When she opened her eyes she knew it was time, so with a heavy heart Kagome jumped, knowing she would never return to the feudal era again.
***End of Flashback***

Shaking her head at where he thoughts were leading her, Kagome steeled herself as she looked up at the school looming before her, taking a deep breath Kagome began her approach as a nagging feeling in the back of her mind told her that something was going to happen soon. But what that something was exactly, was still a mystery…
