Context is Everything by Bella*Luna

Murphy's Law states that whatever can go, wrong will go wrong, at the worst possible moment, in the worst possible way. What's interesting about that is that Edward Murphy was an optimist who was quoted on a really bad day.

It just goes to show that context is everything. Hearing only half of a conversation or seeing only half of what is actually there could really send you in the wrong direction.

Too bad the paparazzi don't care about image.

The glow of the television was no match for the sun streaming in through the front windows of Jude and Sadie's home. However, the news report that was being broadcast was enough to darken even the brightest day.

"Jude Harrison was caught skinny dipping with her not-so-long-time beau, Tommy Quincy, on Friday night at the Holiday Inn pool in Montreal." The snooty woman behind the news desk was saying. She and her bad suit were soon covered up by video footage of the night that they were speaking about.

The lights of the hotel lit the pool deck and the water seemed to glow neon blue from the lights inside the pool. The camera was shaking from news reporters and photographers running through the gates the surrounding the man made body of water, however not enough to prevent the camera man from zooming in and capturing an unmistakable, if blurry, Jude and Tommy jumping out of the pool. Tommy quickly covered Jude in a towel while trying to block her from the flashing cameras and screaming reporters.

"It has not yet been determined if legal action will be taken against the two superstars."

Jude, Spiederman and Sadie all sat on the couch, staring at the TV in utter disbelief. Jude's mouth kept moving as if she were trying to think of something to say and Spied's eyes were narrowing more and more as the footage played once again on the large television.

"You were skinny dipping?" Spied cried, turning toward Jude in a motion that she didn't see. His eyes scanned her provocatively, "Dude!"

Jude glared at him and reached for the newspaper on the coffee table, using it to smack Spiederman in the head.

Tommy quietly sauntered in from the kitchen, steam rising from the cup of tea in his hand. "We weren't skinny dipping," he said with a look at the television and then a sideways glance at Jude.

"I told you buying a flesh colored two-piece was a bad idea," Sadie said, continuing to mark the paperwork in front of her with a yellow highlighter. She didn't even look up, she just shook her head and smiled a knowing, I-told-you-so smile.

"But it was cute! And I'm so obviously wearing a swimsuit!" Jude cried out, pointing toward that screen that was, once again, playing the footage of her climbing quickly out of the pool.

"Not from this video," Spied said with a smile, grabbing the remote and hitting rewind. "All I have to say is thank goodness for On-Demand television."

Tommy reached out with a narrow look and a sigh and plucked the controller from Spiederman's hands. He knocked him on the top of the head with it before turning off the television, and the horrible report, and tossing the remote to the chair across the room.

With a hurt look, Spied stared after the remote before a gleam sparkled in his eyes and he cried, "The internet!" Jumping over the back of the couch, and kicking Sadie in the process, Spiederman flew across the entry to the house and toward the computer desk in the hallway.

Tommy shook his head as his eyes followed the small man running out of the room, "Why are you friends with him again?"

Jude smiled innocently, shrugging her shoulders in a nonchalant way, "Band mate, one of my best friends; plus, I'm pretty awesome. He's a little attached."

Her gloating smile received a skeptical look from the dark man staring at her. "Uh huh," Tommy whispered as he plopped onto the couch beside her.

Sadie, having finally gathered the papers that Spiederman had kicked off of the couch, stood with a scowl toward the hallway. "I would suggest," she sighed, directing her attention back toward Jude, "the death of that suit. Or at least a lifetime exile to the back of the closet." She sighed again as she turned to leave, still organizing the disheveled papers in her hands.

"But it's cute!" Jude called after her sister, as Sadie walked out of the room. Jude tried to repress a giggle when Sadie smacked Spiederman upside the head as she walked past before sliding back into her sitting position on the couch and looking at Tommy, "No one appreciates fashion anymore."

Tommy smiled and shook his head.

"It looked like I was wearing a swimsuit right?" she asked, pointing toward the blank television.

Tommy shrugged with a mischievous grin, "I dunno, I was too focused on hoping it would slip off."

"Oh yeah?" Jude said with a smile. Her eyes slowly floated closed as Tommy leaned toward her lips.

Maybe Eddie should have held off on judging his luck, mine always seems to turn out fine.
