That's a crackerjack anwesr to an interesting question

This is why I go on fanfic sites. I go on to find stories that have depth, that have almost no loose ends if any, that manage to put three hundred thousand word's equivalent of knowledge in half that. This is one of those stories that have that quality.

An excellent story with a rock-solid premise, heartbreaking emotion, and a bittersweet ending. It was great and I loved it.

An excellent story with a rock-solid premise, heartbreaking emotion, and a bittersweet ending. It was great and I loved it.

But I'll be honest: there's no way that all the Senshi would still be emotionally locking out Chibi-Naru after nine hundred years. They would all have to be the most stubborn, pigheaded, dogmatic, and unchanging people in the universe, or Naru the least likable child ever, for 900 years to pass without her worming her way into their hearts Chibi-Usa or no. The pacing of the story is great, but the timeline in which it's set turns "They are emotionally distant from her because she's a reminder of what they've lost" into "They all have whatever the emotional equivalent of a learning disorder is. (Reactive Attachment Disorder, maybe?)"

That's the only thing I could find any fault with in this story, and even it's one of those "fridge logic" moments that only bothers you after you're done reading it, get up, go to the fridge for a drink, and realize "Hey, waaait a minute!" I hope I don't seem like a dick for criticizing the highest-reviewed fic on the site, but hopefully it's more useful than just saying it was great. (It was, by the way, great.)

Author's response:

Hey, don't worry. Criticize all you want; no story should be immune to concrit. :)

Especially because you're absolutely right. I don't believe the Senshi could ever let go of Chibiusa, but there's no reason they shouldn't grow to accept Naru as a different person eventually. It's possible that, because restoring Chibiusa might mean erasing Naru, they might keep themselves distant from her just in case, but after a thousand years it's not likely. Your comments are absolutely valid. :)

I think at the time I was working off an "it hurts too much to get close to Naru" theory, but staying distant from her for all those centuries would most likely hurt even more.

Thanks for the review. ^^

*reads over and over...* Wow. This is probably my 5th time reading Misconception 'cause I love it so much. :D I can feel Neo Lady's depression and isolation. Great work Dej!

my second time reading this, and it still amazes me with its sadness yet it has hope.
Enjoyable read

Simply amazing. It all seems so possible. In situations like this, there is no happy ending. You pity Neo-Lady because she just wants to be loved. But you pity the Senshi and the King and Queen because they loved Chibiusa and expected her. I won't reveal the ending, but I definately love it in a sad way. Like I said, there's no perfect situation. Good Job.

I love all of your stories....I love the way you write, the way you describe what you see so that your readers can see it too.

This was amazing. This was an AU that makes sense...not some crazyness that someone made up because they wanted to put something racy on a page. This required thought and pain and anger and feeling.

Iiiiieeee like it!

A sad, sombre, yet ultimately hopeful story, "Misconception" provides no easy answers or emotions. Trapped in the shadow of someone who does not exist, Neo-Lady searches to somehow make her parents notice her for she is, instead of who she isn't. The structure of the story is simple - flashbacks interspersed with present musings, but the simplicity only adds to the story as it builds up a sad picture of someone who has never truly felt at home or loved by her parents. The various reactions of the Sailor Senshi are also noted with sensitivity and detail, although I did wonder why Hotaru, Haruka and Michiru made no appearances: I suppose they couldn't bear to even look at the "other princess"? The interaction between Neo-Lady and Pluto is the most interesting and complex of all, and the ending is a nice little twist.

Dark, yet compelling.

*Glances around at office*

Okay, coast is clear.

Gee, thanks Dejana for writing a story so interesting I couldn't unglue myself from the monitor while at work. You ought to put a Surgeon General's warning on your stories: "warning: be aware that once you start reading, you will not be able to stop until you reach it's end." ; )

Seriously though, this is why I keep returning to read Sailor Moon fanfiction when there are I moments I seriously think everything has been said and done in this fandom and there's nothing left to write about. Again, you take us readers to the seldom explored corners of Takeuchi-sensei's amazing universe and again you awe us with another excellent story. I you are losing faith in SM fanfiction, you better read this fic and believe again.

This is probably my favorite of your fics so far. The idea behind it is very original, and the emotions portrayed, though seemingly unbelievable at first, are probably realistic considering the unusual circumstances. To have the chance to know your daughter before she was born, then learn that it will never happen... That had to be painful for everybody who loved Small Lady.

This is one of my favorite fanfics. It is original and very believable. The writing is so well done that you even have sympathy for characters who are being cruel.

I recommend this story as required reading for any true Sailor Moon fan.
