Comments on End of Evangelion: Epilogue II by Meech

Review by Dave Ziegler 2006-07-21

I enjoyed the optimistic outlook of this piece. Generally, EoE epilogue shorts are too focused on the whole nothing's left of the world and no one's come out of the Sea of LCL but Shinji and Asuka 'isn't humanity sad' schtick for my taste. Shinji's actions both mark him as having made some small but promising character development (in so much as he finally asserts his own desire) as well as demonstrating that in this story's outlook, the world is not going to remain this sad, barren post-apocalyptic resort for two. Good stuff that.

I also thought Asuka was handled well. For all its shortness, she did have a nice moment of character examination, which I think is a perfectly logical and meaningful demonstration of how her overall journey and the events of the movie affected her.

I'm sure if you wanted to, you could go back to work on the prose and spiff it up a bit, but as the story stands, it is conceptially and characterization wise well done and enjoyable.
