Reviews on At the End of the Rainbow by Kihin Ranno

Review by Dave Ziegler 2006-08-07

That was hysterical. Literally, a story hasn't had me rolling like that in a long time. Good stuff, great wit.

I found the prose much more smooth and polished than in some of your longer works, and, much like with Dejana, your characterizations never fail to be top notch. Not to mention that, despite its shortness, the story still summons and plays with dueling emotions of childhood and adulthood.

Perhaps I'm slightly out of touch with some of the sailormoon fic trends, but I found the Minako/Motoki romance rather novel, and would be very interested in reading how that relationship came to develop should you ever have the urge to write it.

Overall, a wonderful job and splendid story.

Author's response:

Heh, I think "hysterical" is a bit strong, but I'll take the compliment. XD

I find it hilarious you think this was more polished since this was dashed off in maybe twenty minutes. ^^; Then again, in this case I'm not trying to juggle a bunch of plot points and delving deep into such-and-such's character. I'm just dashing off a little Minako/Motoki fluff piece, so that's probably why.

I would say that the Minako/Motoki pairing is probably the third most popular het pairing for Minako, second to Kunzite/Minako and Yaten/Minako respectively. Which might still make it pretty novel when you take into account that those are a pretty huge portion of the Minako fics out there, and that I'm excluding Minako/Rei and other shoujo-ai fics from the equation. But yeah, I've seen it before, and I think they'd work as a couple.

Hmm... Not sure if I'd ever write an epic/long one-shot with these two. But I imagine that it mostly come about as a result of Motoki losing Reika and Minako winding up as "rebound girl" who is unfortunately "the girl." And of course Makoto would not be happy about this development. At all. ^^; But it's possible that's not how it happened at all. Either way, I enjoy writing them already in a functional relationship so I can bypass all the heart-wrenching angst. XD

Thank you so much for the review, and I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to it!
