The kitchen buzzed as the women tried to get the holiday meal ready. The children ran around in the back, while their mothers (Ginny and Hermione) and Grandma Molly prepared dinner.
“Dear, just a little sugar. Then it should be ready,” said Molly. As Ginny went to the jar, she found that there was nothing left.
“Mum,” Ginny showed her mother the empty sugar container.
“Oh, dear,” replied Molly. “That cake won't taste right without sugar! Boys!” The men (Ron, Harry, and Mr. Weasley) were seated in the living room, pretending to peel potatoes while listening to the Quidditch match.
“Yes, Molly,” spoke her husband as he tried to look busy.
“I need you to run to the shop to get me some sugar, dear.”
“But most of them are closed,” Ron said. “Even Diagon Alley.” Molly looked flustered at the prospect of not getting sugar for the cake.
“Well, I’m sure we can do without it,” Hermione responded to perk up her Mother-in-law.
“No, dear, it’s a traditional cake. I wanted it would be a part of the feast. Surely someone must be open.”
“Well there this is one place. It’s a new store… Wal - something. It’s a big Muggle shopping center,” Harry answered.
“Will it have sugar?”
“It should. It claims to have everything.” Harry replied.
So it was agreed that Harry and Mr. Weasley would go. Ron stayed behind to “help” peel the rest of the potatoes. Since it was a Muggle store, they decided to take the car since it wasn’t that far from The Burrow.
As they pulled into the parking lot, Mr. Weasley looked anxious, “It’s so big. Are you sure they sell sugar?”
“I’m sure. Well just get it then go home. We shouldn’t be long.”
As they entered, a kindly old woman greeted them and handed Mr. Weasley a shopping cart. He looked confused as to what he would need if for, but he pushed it anyways as he followed Harry.
Mr. Weasley marveled at the various Muggle items all along the isles. “Look, Harry! They have rubber ducks!” he exclaimed as he put one into his cart.
As they reached the register, they realized that they had more then just sugar. “Is that total in gold?” asked Mr. Weasley as the cashier finished ringing up their items. Harry just smiled as he paid for their purchase.
As they walked outside, Mr. Weasley looked around in astonishment, “By Merlin! What time is it?”
“We’ve been in there for a while,” Harry said as he scanned the parking lot.
“It didn’t feel like it. This place must be some kind of timer turner or something. And that cart! I felt like I was under some kind of confundus charm, picking up all those items. Did we get the sugar?”
Harry looked amongst the piles of plastic bags, “I’m sure we did. We’ll find out when we get back to the Burrow.”
Both men stood there looking at the sea of cars, “Do you remember where we parked?”
