He wasn't usually the type of man to get worked up over things. He was just too cheerful, too good natured to be depressed for very long. Depression was like water to him. He could never hold onto it for very long.
But he had never been abandoned before. He had never gotten so close to someone - closer than brothers, closer than blood - only to have him leave. He had never felt such warmth in his life - one that was constant and comforting even though everything was all right. And suddenly, he was waking up to a cold, empty bed and watched as he was taken by the hand to an even warmer place. A place he could never go.
And yet, he found solace in one who knew his exact plight, but reversed. He saw her, sitting in front of a game console - the one she favored - with red rim eyes and freckled cheeks. He'd felt a swarm of pitiful relief. He took her by the hand and led her to where perhaps they could both find some peace...
But as he moved into her, muffling her cries with his mouth in an attempt to pitch them lower, he shivered as he came, ice trailing down his cheek.
