Deadly Alchemists

As the blossoms fall, the wind claims another as its own,

We, the bereaved, lament, shed our tears, and we remember,

Glory pales against the burnished brilliance of the etheric light of the beyond,

The celestial boat makes its journey along the river of stars,

In this certainty, to which we are best served, in comfort of heart and of spirit, we bid them farewell,

As the Kamis, take their weary child to their bosom,

He rests, he dreams, and he sends his blessings of healing and benediction upon his saddened children from his place upon Fenghuang's back,

For destiny offers, a new path upon roads not trodden and in realms one can only dream and imagine their splendor,

Moments of liquid love, after the storm, like beads of nectar on a flower, how precious is life's resplendence,

Like candles, how bright our loved ones taken from us burn with an unquenchable flame within the shrines of our hearts where we will always honor and remember them with love,

Eulogy of the emperor and empress of the Pan-Asian federation, or Chrysanthemum Empire as they say good-bye to their much-loved father, Hu Jing-Quo

The Palace

Usagi cradled him in her arms. He was sleeping. She, in that moment, realized just how much she loved him. Reflecting on all that had gone on before, the match making by their families that had proven to be so vexing to them both at the start, none of it mattered anymore. Here they were alone at last. Thinking on it, Portugal was, she mused, in fact, a paradise, and when this was all over, they would return and finish the honeymoon, and this time, willingly as man and wife, and sovereigns of a new superpower.

She whispered, "I love you, Mamo-chan," she said with feeling, touching his cheek.

Soon, she felt the warmth within the orbit of his embrace, tucked snuggly into the comfort of her new certainty. Basking in this wonderful feeling, she fell asleep.

Every time Mamoru stirred, she would wake, kiss his brow, run her fingers through his lush dark locks, and sigh with pleasure. She pressed her body against his with no sense of the hesitation that had dogged them whilst staying at the homestead in Portugal. She felt no fear, no discomfort and as she kissed the musculature of his bared chest, having unfastened half the buttons of his pajama coat, she felt as if she were in heaven.

~*~

The sun was creeping up over the horizon, almost as if a naughty child grounded for a minor transgression, the young daystar checking to see if all was well upon this virgin morning.

She smiled, as Mamoru's arms tightened around her. She leaned in and kissed him on the lips.

"Am I dreaming? Usagi, is it really you? Oh, I am so sorry for falling to pieces last night, but…"

"Don't be silly, you dear, sweet wonderful man. I have a confession to make and its not before time," she coughed, gripping his hands, "I have been doing a lot of thinking, and reflecting over the course of the last few days and weeks, and perhaps on a deeper level over the course of our marriage. Both of us had said a lot to one another, had doubts, and yet, I knew, even then, when I looked at you, whenever you were near me, whenever we touched, and when I was afraid, that I was falling in love with you. I was a stupid git, forgetting the fact that you were so gentle with me all the way: courteous, generous of heart and a fountainhead of patience. When I think of my silly tantrum when you and Rei were on the beach and how I'd reacted, I want to cringe. But I knew then that I had been fighting my stubborn bitch-assed determination to block my feelings and deny you. I knew then I was falling for you and as I looked at myself in the mirror one day, I knew it was true. But still I fought against the love that was eroding my pigheaded resolve to resist your beautiful heart and your touch."

"What can I possibly say to all that, Usako. I love you, and I always have. Even in the shopping mall where we first met, the feelings of warmth, of protectiveness overcame me. I know, classic male ego, but it wasn't a debilitating feeling of overprotection I wanted. Rather, like the Kamis of nature, I wanted to protect and nurture, Ah! I'm not saying this right at all!" he sighed in frustration.

"Don't try so hard, Mamo-chan, just say you love me and show me how much. That's all the affirmation I'll ever want aside from your hunky body and lovely nature and all else that goes with the man I adore!" she blushed, and tears welled up in her eyes.

He too allowed himself the luxury of tears, but this day, these were tears of joy, of recognition, of elation and realization. There would be time enough for tears for his father and his dear sister when they traveled to Beijing. But for now, it was only he and she, a man and a woman, melting into the moment, a gentle seduction of a Chrysanthemum as he beheld the one he loved.

"Usako, I love you!" he grinned as she puckered up, "and I…"

She silenced him with a kiss. But this time, where words proved insufficient, actions spoke far more effectively, answering the building need in her heart and hungry body. He opened his eyes wider, if that were possible, and they deepened the kiss. She led the way with their ritual initiation into passion, not letting him doubt himself or her for a single moment. She massaged his chest and whimpered as he suckled upon her bottom lip, so soft, so sweet, so, Usagi.

Her hair was free of its odangos. He inhaled the sweet smell of her sweat, her perfume, the vanilla shampoo and conditioner, these like ambrosia to his heightened senses as he breathed her in and sighed with the fragrance of her. Then, as she began to grow more excited, having in that moment discarded her panties, he could detect the musky sweetness of her need ascending to claim his last ounce of free will, bringing him to the very brink. In that moment, he reflected on his adolescence, remembering his last girlfriend, a shy dark haired girl, by the name of Saori. She was cute and pretty. He remembered how he'd felt that wonderful first time he ever had sex and how it felt so good. They sat in the tree house, her dress unbuttoned to the hem, the knee-length socks, standard issue for a college girl, even at seventeen. But the pink underwear and the uniform, seemed so out of place with her womanly figure, her golden skin and her passion laden almond eyes. He didn't care about the clash of innocence and lust in that hot-blooded moment as their lips touched and their desires exploded into a torrential blaze of fire. He really believed at the time that he was in love. But like the leaves of autumn, the feelings faded and fell away to dust. Whenever Mamoru thought of her, it was always with fondness, having put it all down to the process of growing up.

When Saori moved to the Sichuan Province not long after their intimate encounter, he'd not seen her for a further two years. He was saddened to learn she was engaged. He then decided not to fall in love again, even though they had back then been in their mid-teens, remembering how it hurt like hell. But after meeting Usagi a few years later, all thoughts of Saori flew out the window. Try as he might, he couldn't resist the adorable golden-haired bubbly and beautiful girl that was, Usagi complaining to her friend about the many shopping bags they were carrying and whining that she was hungry and wanted some sushi. He marveled at how the Kamis so eloquently wove the tapestry of their lives together.

As he drifted back to the present, she somehow managed to roll him onto his back, pushing him down . She climbed over him.

"Oh Usako, you're so lovely!" he gasped, and kissed her forehead, and she smiled as she licked her lips and he knew he was going to be loved in a way he'd only read about in faery tales. But this he knew, was definitely no faery tale, and she was his faery queen. Mamoru's hands then ran up and down her smooth thighs. She was like a statue come to life, such was her beauty in the dawn light. She the emergent Goddess of his heart, his life, alight with the golden kisses of Amaterasu's morning blessings as warm rays fell upon the seamstress of the stars, his one true love.

He let the pain of his loss and the ice-cold chill of his heart melt. It all receded and only the pink rose of her heart, her shapely body, her beautiful limbs, her soft thigh-length tresses took precedence; all else could wait.

Usagi, growing more confident, riding upon the crest of her desire, gathered the hem of her chemise, peeled it off ever so slowly over her head, and flung it across the room. He examined her exquisite form, committing every part of her physical splendor to memory. He loved how her hair flew all over the place. She looked like a wild wood nymph, raunchy and dreamy. He gasped at the plumes of delicate flesh that were the wineglass orbs of her breasts, the cherry-red nipples – these, serving as points of invitation, much like succulent fruit, nectar laden and firm beneath his fingertips. Leaning forward, he cupped her warm substantive handfuls and stroked them with a feather light touch, he then ran his tongue under the curve of each breast and suckled upon just about every inch of their fullness, drawing her nipples to hardened tips while suckling each with relish, sending Usagi's senses into cascade.

She fluttered her lashes and her tiny hands began massaging his back. How strong he was -- youthful and gorgeous. She kissed the top of his head as he gave her breasts his full attention. He pulled her towards him, gripping her knees, positioning himself between her legs. He began his tender assault. Then, much to her surprise and delight, giggling with the sensation, he began running tiny kisses along the insides of her legs. Moving in lazy circles like a hawk, his tongue circling towards the crown of her womanhood. He wound his arms about her hips and bestowed kisses upon the flesh of her flower, she was in a state of pure bliss. He then gave her a series of love bites upon her inner thighs, as she felt herself dissolving into mush, acutely aware of the rising orgasmic surges heading her way. He rolled her on her back. Usagi giggled as he lost himself within her molten depths as they made love. Usagi cried out as she unleashed the watershed of her desire. She knew then they had reached that rapturous plateau that girls dreamt of with their fantasy guys and of which romance novels boasted. It was magnificent.

When they were spent, they fell into one another's arms, contented: stroking, kissing and whispering endearments to each other in a gentle epilogue of their fiery desires, and soon fell asleep.

~*~

Artemis whispered to Luna something as Mamoru and Usagi, hand in hand, and looking rested and contented, in their robes sat for breakfast. Before them: cereals, fruit, yoghurts of various flavors, pancakes and other treats looked inviting.

The silver percolator filled with hot hazelnut coffee, and a large jade jug of milk with its sakura motifs and the matching coffee mugs brought a smile to Mamoru and Usagi's lips. On a hotplate at the center of the table, bacon, and eggs with tomato, capsicum and onion were sizzling. Nearby, a huge jug of orange juice and freshly baked bread from the palaces kitchens smelled amazing as they served themselves and began to eat.

"I hope you guys have a big appetite. You're going to need it today. Lots happening. But for the moment…food!" Makoto said, poking her head through the archway that led to the kitchens. Luna and Artemis were smiling at one another as Mina sat beside Usagi and said her good mornings to the glowing couple.

"Mamo-chan and Usagi-chan, you both look great, bon-appetite!" Luna chirruped, grabbing a plate of buttered toast and putting some slices on each of their plates and took some for herself and Artemis.

"Thank you, Luna, and what about you guys, you also have a nice glow about you today, don't they, Mamo-chan," Usagi teased, knowing the couple were in love and that palace gossip was rife that they would soon announce their engagement.

"Usagi, really…"Luna blushed as Artemis hugged her, stroking her hair. Usagi smiled at her friends.

"If you're good lady majesty, we might let you in on our secret plans for later this month…now no guessing, eat and talk can wait, okay?" Artemis chuckled as Mamoru held up a speared blueberry pancake, dunked it into a bowl of Greek styled yoghurt, and devoured the delicious breakfast treat. Thus inspired, Usagi did the same.

Soon, Shingo, and the twins, Ikuko and Reika, followed by their father took their customary places at the large table and said their good mornings. All ate heartily as Sokhumi spoke to his children and chatted with Mamoru as they breakfasted. He was glad of the new love blossoming between his eldest daughter and the young man at her side. Despite his part in forcing them into a marriage of convenience, he was nonetheless pleased and relieved the Kamis had brought their hearts together. Mamoru and Usagi would soon have the weight of the world placed upon their shoulders, especially over the course of the next few months -- if not longer. Sokhumi knew there was no better man to help his daughter through this crisis than Chiba Mamoru, soon to become, Emperor Endymion.

"Good morning, Mina Porter, how are you?" Usagi said, a cheerful resonance to her voice.

"I'm well Usagi, your bunny ears are aglow as is your face this day, wouldn't have anything to do with one Chiba Mamoru, would it now," she winked, making Mamoru chuckle.

"Mina-chan, you are a character, I must say. Thank you… I think?" Mamoru said, hugging his Usako who blushed and giggled as he stroked her soft plaits.

"Mina, you're incorrigible. But yes, this handsome…prince, is responsible!" she answered, closing her eyes for a second or two. She turned to Mamoru, "I think after breakfast, Mamo-chan, we will speak with mother. I think we need to catch up with things. But first we go for a swim and take a shower, okay Mamo-chan?" she asked, eyes sparkling.

"Sure, I think that would be a great idea. So, odango Atama, let's eat! I am starved, and I know you are after…" he winked at her, she blushed and nudged him in the ribs, and they laughed. They all laughed.

Araya and Mercury soon sat at the table with Nephrite and Zoicite, Kunzite was in Beijing with Aiko and Rei preparing for the state funeral and coordinating the war effort.

Beijing

Two days later

Empress Aiko was waiting for them on the tarmac as the royal jet dubbed, The Silver Crystal shut down its engines. She rushed to greet Mamoru and Usagi. They embraced as the hissing and whirring of the stellar planes washed over the apron as the winged escort, a series of military planes called gliders came to rest a short distance away. The Shitennou and Senshi had disembarked and were chatting companionably with Chinese elite troops sent to protect the royal contingent.

"Oh Rei!" Mamoru cried out as his sister flung herself into his arms and began to cry. Now it was his turn to be strong.

Both he and Usagi exchanged looks of compassion as he stroked his sister's soft black hair as her body shook within his arms. He soothed her and spoke , "Don't worry Rei, we'll get through this…together!"

"Oh Mamoru, I'm sorry. I am not only grieving for father, but for my mother; you know the story. Usagi told you, didn't she?"

He nodded and handed her a clean handkerchief and kissed the top of her head. "Yes, she had…you're dealing with emotions that fate had for so long denied you. Now we need to remember the love, the power of that love. No matter how infuriating as some of the choices our parents made, they believed they were looking out for us and their decisions were made in our best interests; I'm sure they wished things could have been done a little differently. but that is life as they say. Now is not the time to puzzle all that out. Like you, I was shocked to learn of your mother, but also proud of her work and the sacrifices she made. She, as with father, will live always in our hearts."

Rei then looked up with reddened eyes at her brother, "I only knew him a short time, such a precious fragment, and yet, I feel him in my heart. Father was a good man, and he had much to carry upon his shoulders as president of China. But he did it all for you, and for me, Mamo-chan, my dear brother."

"I know, I only wished I'd told him I loved him and that I believed in his vision. We always were at loggerheads. I only wanted to find my own sense of self, and yet, he was right about many things. I just didn't see it and regret not talking to him heart-to-heart. We didn't meet in the middle and that is what saddens me most. The denial of an opportunity to say good-bye, and to tell him I was proud to be his son and would follow his example. I guess, I will not have the chance now," he said, his voice breaking as Rei clung to her brother.

Meanwhile, Aiko and Usagi were embracing, and her mother asked after Ikuko, Shingo and Reika, their reunion too, tearful.

"My daughter, Usagi I love you! I was so terrified you and Mamoru were gone forever. I am sure the Kamis brought you back to us, and I might add, our very own Shitennou and Senshi task force, too. I am so proud and glad you and Mamoru are in love. I must say, a mother's heart couldn't be more proud. Although, I confess, I was wrong. Perhaps you would have fallen in love if your father and I hadn't interfered." She kissed Usagi, the latter, too emotional to speak. "How is your father?"

"H-he's okay, he sends his love as do the girls and Shingo, you know, he's always playing Maple Story; and every time I see him these days it seems, there’s another pretty girl hanging off his arm. But lately, I've noticed he is really taken with Chikka; they've got something good going I think."

Aiko's eyes doubled in size. "Shingo serious about a girl? Now that dear Usagi, I just have to see first hand when all this is over," she smiled, as both women hugged each other.

They continued sharing their news as Rei and Mamoru joined them as the party moved towards the terminus, all looking up at the gliders flying overhead on high alert.

Tokyo

Palace research center

Chibi-Chibi had cracked the DNA mutant matrix. These complex codes worked the same as an algorithm albeit a multidimensional version, an enigma to be sure. She spent hours each day downloading the complex equations. Chibi-Chibi had set up a series of holo-simulations, for the upcoming rescue mission. She was uploading all her nanites mutation data as fast as she could, passing it on to Beijing where Aiko and her team were disseminating the data stream.

Meanwhile, a crack team of experts at the palace was working around the clock building the new interceptor drones to take out Yatan's cyber soldiers. She had constructed a morphogenesis protocol for a new super AI computer to assist with the research into Terraforming the Eastern Inferno. The urgency was apparent, as the life forms were moving both in a southerly direction and across Europe. From the information they were gathering through Chibi-chibi, the biomorphic life forms were being ‘helped' to propagate exponentially; likely the Dark Dragon Kingdom's agenda of wiping all out of its path and redesigning nature and creating a nightmare world. If its progress wasn't halted soon, all bets were off and life on Earth, in the worst-case scenario would be altered forever. The mass biogenic evolution would absorb and wipe out all recognizable terrestrial life and leave only the Kamis knew what in its wake. Prognosis; within twenty-five years and this a conservative estimate.

With the help of the esteemed Professor Meao Setsuna, nano programs and vaccines were developed with Chibi-Chibi's help and efforts to distribute these were already in the planning and testing stages.

Chibi-Chibi wasn't going to Beijing with the others, she had too much an important role to play developing defensive solutions for the human immune system and the augmentation of the new biomorphic vaccines that would change human civilization forever. In order to escape the oncoming biomorphic pandemic, humanity had to evolve through its technology, which in itself had evolved to the point where the viability of the old human era was compromised by the Millennium War, Greenhouse and its spin-offs, and the Market Wars that preceded these.

~*~

"What is that thing!" Araya gasped at the metallic insect in the crystal chamber, "Looks scary, are you sure that thing is harmless?"

"Absolutely, this technology is so far ahead of conventional science, I have managed to advance our knowledge by half that gulf within the last week," Chibi-chibi said, studying the schematics and taking notes on a virtual touchpad.

Araya tilted her head and sat in the swivel chair next to Chibi-chibi crossing her legs, and ate her sandwich, a smoked ham and tasty cheese, tomato and sprinkled with black pepper. She watched the Synth, as these beings were now classified, at work on her audacious new research. Setsuna brought a platter of nibbles and a fresh pot of Hawaiian Kona coffee, milk, cream and set these items down smiling at the two women.

Setsuna supposed the group responsible for developing this technology were so far removed from human affairs they were as good as alien in every way; assuming them to be a secret movement of some kind. But as far-fetched as this might have seemed, the post-quantum research following Chibi-Chibi's detailed analysis indicated nano-processors using power sources and materials fashioned in subspace, to be unprecedented. So, the jury was out and the palace had set up a facility to study Chibi-Chibi's results. But when Chibi-chibi herself agreed to be studied, everyone was in awe of her. The palace researchers then realized the wonder of her, the fact she was not only a biosynthetic human, but possessed a reproductive system; her entire physiology alien to world science. She was a hybridized humanoid. Her lungs and brain, unique, though looking the same, she definitely wasn't. She had told them her blood was the basis of the vaccines they'd need if human kind were to survive the biogenic pandemic that would soon break free of its homeland within the Eastern Inferno and claim the whole world.

Beijing

Yatan and Tin Nyanko glared at one another. Both keen to see the mission through to its conclusion, but both at odds as to which way to go about it. Yatan's apocalyptic solution to the mounting pressure on their forces was clear, build a new order out of the ashes of the old. A scorched Earth policy, biomorphic cities replacing those of the Asian region, the biogenic wastelands used as a controlled experiment for their convenience. Tailor made civilization. New life forms submissive and obedient to the new global order. He liked that. But Tin Nyanko was not so sure this was either desirable or feasible and would have none of it. But she kept her council for the moment, for Yatan's behavior was bordering on that of a psychopath and she had no desire to provoke him.

After seeking and getting the backing of the mysterious order, Yatan was pleased with his plans. Each of them grieved in their own way. Seiya's death was unexpected. He was on the front line and had conceived the plan to capture and eventually kill the Japanese and Chinese heirs apparent. But it all went to hell. The Eastern Inferno had likely claimed Seiya, and who knows what had become of him if those chimeras had gotten hold of his body and the conflict between biotechnology and the scourge of human stupidity, would it have created something worse, or did Seiya self destruct; they had no idea. All they knew was his biogenic signature was gone.

They'd used the satellite network to detect their space plane, having repaired itself, the vessel was then escorted back to Japan by the Japanese military's own space plane, the Kinzuishou.

Then Yatan decided it was time to press on, assuming the leadership of the group. They would carry on in Seiya's memory, unaware he had undergone a new metamorphosis and was helping the organics turn the tide of the war against them.

The ancient movement to which they were aligned, going under a series of names like the illuminati and Saurian Dominion, had underwritten the establishment of many civilizations including the Ancient Egyptian, the Roman Empire, and that of its predecessor, Carthage to the Byzantium through to the establishment of the British Empire. Then they'd sponsored the French Revolution and overseen the formation of the United States of America. Presently, the Dragon Kingdom was their latest foray into the manipulation of human history, the ultimate glory of 15000 years of background acculturation. After the debacle of Atlantari, they'd sought to create a new super-civilization. A series of trials and plenty of bloody failures, the founding of monocultures and religious and economic world orders, these all falling into the cradle of a deadly biogenic fusion war. Success not their strong suit, but this time they were determined to get it right. The hooded masters and mistresses of the newly designated, Order of the Dark Crystal, through this bold new initiative would create the power block that would rule the old Earth and extend its reach to the very stars.

Nyanko had originally wanted what they had all wanted, to become the immortal rulers of the planet. They, the founders of a new biosynthetic species, the first on Earth to produce offspring of their kind. Their parents, Lord Demando and Lady Emerald, were most proud of their children. Growing up in a small fishing village, living a simple life by day, and by night, educated within a secret society that prided itself on its affiliations with the order of the Dark Crystal. Their parents had initially agreed to the course of treatments that would forever alter their physiology. The scans indicated the advanced nanites had first transmogrified their spinal column, and then altered the bone tissue and every vital organ, every cell of the body undergoing an amazing metamorphosis. The small machines fashioned from particle chambers in subspace were an ingenious innovation, the protomorphic alloys were bioconductive, bio-empathic and communicated with the DNA of the host in a complex post-quantum dialogic relationship or symbiosis.

Her mother, Emerald had conceived and given birth to a clutch of four children and she would soon give birth again. Nyanko marveled at the scans and holo-images of her own inner structure, everything from her glittering spinal column, a silvery-black crystalline enigma, to every organ, cell and hair and skin to the subatomic; it was beautiful. The central nervous system of her parents had evolved into a network of biomorphic nodes that worked effectively as neural processing stations, these filtering the microcellular matrix of the DNA and converting these into biogenic nanites. But she and her brothers were born as complete Synths capable of reproducing naturally. The new structure, through osmosis and diffusion, taking the normal cells of their parents and converting these to the new hybridist cells of bone, muscle and tissue along with a bloodstream -- a new biofluidic wonder had culminated in their births and the birth of a new era for humanity she found most intriguing.

But would it all be snuffed out? She didn't know, but she had to reassess her part in all of this craziness and she had to do this lest all be lost.

~*~

Yatan was fascinated by the evolution of their new species, in particular the intake of nutrients and the filtering of the waste products of the body revolutionized to function without oxygen, this allowing a Synth to live in climates not indigenous to bioorganic humans. Such as under water, or on worlds where the atmosphere was made up of methane, or any number of non-terrestrial compounds. The Synth body would reorganize itself and adapt accordingly. Yatan was excited by this and the fact that they could draw from materials in a low gravity and diverse atmospheric climate. There was, he thought, no reason why the new post-human civilization couldn't migrate to the stars, set up colonies on Mars and the moons of Saturn and Jupiter then move outward across the galactic expanse. They were inspired, all of them and it all sounded good at first, to rule and to grow and become the vanguard of a new civilization. Now, a madness of sorts had changed their leader, but they were too afraid to do anything about it, and would he turn against his own.

Tin Nyanko wondered, ‘would he kill us, is my brother mad?' she wasn't sure.

Yatan had insisted on overseeing the construction of the weapon. He wanted little input from the others who were busy building the drones, beings similar to themselves, but non-organic and almost as smart. These could be controlled via the drone's positronic processors, a little like the toys of terrestrial children: the cars, the toy kitties, dogs, and other such other amusements. Nyanko loved Lead Crow and Iron Mouse. She had awoken them herself, and had added a touch of the feminine to these and made them look pretty, giving each the Anime eyes, and clothing.

Yatan shook his head and laughed, ‘you crazy Anime romantic, but they do look cute, maybe we could get them to infiltrate the compound for us and take out the president… Ah, yeah, that's exactly what they will do!' After that, she kept the two drones away from Yatan and reprogrammed them only to obey her commands, but kept this to herself. This was something she wouldn't even confide to Taiki. Tin Nyanko was for the first time beginning to question everything they'd been taught. The order had implanted the self-destruct protocols in the ZP weapon, and Yatan had been exposed to it much too often. Nyanko thought it had done something to her brother. He had become a crazed fanatic. She had to talk to Taiki. The ZP weapon was an unpredictable device and it had the potential of wiping out all life on earth, and perhaps if the weapon went into cascade, the entire solar system could be compromised. She didn't like it in the slightest, and who would blame her. She had studied the structure of the core and the zero point energy's containment field, finding it to be unstable. She made some slight adjustments, altered the Teslar transductors to absorb more energy and send it into subspace, but she was worried it might not be enough. Yatan now prevented any of them getting near the device since a schism had breeched their working relationship. Nyanko could only hope the modifications she'd made would be sufficient.

Beijing

The state funeral for Hu Jing-Quo was a lavish affair, millions all over China had witnessed it and the fighting had been extra fierce the day before to push back the enemy far from the capital to give the people plenty of opportunity to both mourn and celebrate the life and achievement of President Hu Jing-Quo. The declaration of the Pan-federation's founding would also be announced by the new emperor, Endymion. The following year, a formal coronation would take place in Tokyo, the new federation capital in April 2044 to coincide with the next Cherry Blossom Festival. Rei would become the Empress of the lands of China, living at the newly designated royal compound. The federation would consist of three tiers, with the high monarchs -- Endymion and Serenity -- the title Usagi had chosen for herself. Then Rei as President and Empress, with the civilian government administering the new superpower bilaterally.

The ceremony was solemn, beautiful and sad, the flowers decorating every street and building in Beijing, these sent as tribute from all over the world. Mamoru, Usagi, Rei, Aiko, and the families of both lands and dignitaries from all over Asia and the rest of the world in attendance. Traditional Chinese and Japanese musicians performed, as a holo-cast of Hu Jing-Quo's life was broadcast worldwide. A most beautiful and sad tribute to a great man and visionary.

As the family and friends spent that night at the compound dining and comforting one another, sharing anecdotes of Hu Jing-Quo, there was a brief commotion and all turned to the entrance as three of the Senshi entered the reception room. JP, Haruka, and Michiru, panting, whilst trying to catch their breaths, such was their haste.

"We have two of the Synths. They've defected. But we must act tonight. The Zero Point weapon has been activated to explode inside twelve hours!"

JP explained how that morning, the codes for the Zero Point weapon were sent to the compound by a girl calling herself simply, Lady Mau and her brother, Lord Mau. The Senshi and Shitennou agreed to their conditions of surrender. Then prepared to receive the two defectors of the Dark Kingdom. Then, all gasped as Tin Nyanko and Taiki escorted by Araya and Artemis, pulse pistols pointed at the defectors as a precaution, led the Synths to where Aiko, Rei, Usagi and Mamoru stood in shock and surprise.

Nyanko and Taiki fell to their knees and bowed.
"You must stop Yatan! He has gone mad! We think it is the exposure to the ZP power core," Nyanko said, as silence fell over the chamber.
