Mommy Please Love Me: Story of a Crystal Princess by Loki

Meeting

It was her fourteenth birthday. Chibi-Chibi –now addressed by her proper name, Serenity Dawn, received the greatest news of her life from her guardian. Diana rushed into her bedchamber and with breathless enthusiasm broke the news, “Sere! I can’t believe it, I am so-”

“What, Diana-sama, you’re stuttering!” she laughed, unable to stop herself giggling at her guardian.

“Tonight at a dinner held in your honor,” she paused for breath and continued, “You’re to be formally presented to your mother as part of the birthday celebrations at court followed by a royal ball and a fireworks display to close off proceedings at midnight.”

“You’re kidding me, right? She wouldn’t really, I mean, where’s the punch line, Diana-sama?” she chuckled, not believing this was true.

“No, I’m not joking, look for yourself.” Diana slid the crystal pod into the cradle and the holo-image of her mother appeared before her, in her silver and magenta fuku, matching calf-length cloak and quartz high-heels. “Daughter, I think it time we met face-to-face. I am sorry it has taken me this long to meet with you. But I will explain all tonight. Look forward to meeting you, Serenity Dawn.”

~*~

All was in readiness. Her gown fashioned by the finest seamstresses having traveled by crystal glider from New Beijing for this auspicious event. She wore her hair in a high coronet for the ball. She would be guest of honor, and according to Luna much sought after as a dancing partner by those young men in attendance having come from all over the Crystal Alliance.

She felt nervous and shy. Her mother, noble and a great warrior queen, had by virtue of her stature, increased the young princess’s anxiety about their much anticipated meeting that night. Queen Serenity, dubbed, Megami-sama, due to her powers and high status was legendary. Her exploits told in oral tales, holo-theatre, film, documentary series, and all this acclaim was inescapable. However, some in the kingdom’s circles of influence thought the queen mad. But would never dare utter those sentiments in public, lest the Shitennou Home Guard pay them a visit and make them wish they’d never been born. Some amongst the Crystal Assembly – a peak body set up in the recently restored Kurashiki Okayam Prefecture, that governed the civilian affairs of its member states on Earth, the assembly’s facilitator went as far as saying she was out of control and the Shitennou ought to impose civilian rule and make her a figurehead.

Rebels in the underground digital Manga movement created controversy by publishing mocking holo-caricatures of the queen as she beat her cowering enemies with her crystal wand and got drunk on sake. The Shitennou tried to have these and other such publications banned. But the task proved difficult at best and in the end, Serenity let it slide. One nobleman from Stockholm went as far as accusing the queen of being a dictator. But Serenity invited him to the palace and honored him by making him her personal publicist for her autobiography and he soon changed his tune and became a champion of the Serenity administration.

Sure, her mother's formidable reputation scared the hell out of her. But her love for her mother dwarfed this fear. She had seen first hand, her mother’s transformation into the ‘Ginzuishou Lady,’ as the Shitennou called her. She was resplendent and so beautiful in this form. One day whilst her mother was in the temple dedicated to the Ginzuishou, Serenity Dawn snuck into the private chamber to watch her mother as she meditated and trained privately with her crystal katana from a small alcove, closed off, this abutting the throne room and the Moon Temple. A gap in the masonry allowed her to watch the breathtaking sight of her mother’s unexpected and unearthly transformation into a crystalline woman, her liquid crystal form aglow with silvery light.

At this point, Serenity Dawn lost consciousness and became disembodied. And from a bird’s eye point of view, she could see it all. She had a profound vision that showed her the intricate weft of the Ginzuishou’s boundless tapestry and its incredible power.

The princess, from that day forth had become most afraid and completely in awe of her mother. But after what she had seen, vowed she wouldn’t speak of it to anyone other than Pegasus and Pan. She was only eleven at the time and as wondrous a sight as it was, it only put a greater distance between herself and her hope to be reconciled with her mother. But now, after all these years, they would finally meet face to face.

~What do I say to her, could she possibly understand what I must be feeling, and would she even care? I know she has only my best interests at heart and I realize she loves me very much. But just the same, she scares me to death…~

~*~

Not only was it Serenity Dawn who felt intimidated by her mother, the warrior queen was feared by all, especially Earth’s allies . Even the Asteroid Senshi, and most of her mother’s Senshi. But despite this, they served her faithfully.

There were however, some notable exceptions: the outer Senshi, Uranus and Neptune, never forgiven by her mother for the deaths of her grandparents. These Senshi had formed a principality made up of a loose collection of worlds that had fallen out of favor with the warrior queen, or refused to join the Crystal Alliance.

After the initial appearance of the crystal warrior in battle during an assault on a far off darkened world in another star system, the Shitennou, having joined a group of bounty hunters, seeking to destroy the creatures that had killed Serenity’s parents, stood in awe as their queen transformed into the ‘Ginzuishou Lady’ in front of her Shitennou. Years before, they had seen the emanation of her energy form step outside her body to destroy their enemies on the moon. But this was completely different. The queen became one with the Ginzuishou and her body had become a transparent fluid form of the crystal. She was indestructible and beautiful.

As a Senshi queen, she was relentless. Both she, the Shitennou and her Senshi tracked down and dispatched many hundreds of the blob-like creatures, though few were sorry to see these taken out.

~*~

Serenity Dawn felt so insignificant in the face of her mother’s exalted stature. She was after all, ‘the Chibi-Chibi’ a gangly youth, wet behind the ears and completely naïve to the world and those realms beyond it. Pretty, but awkward and her own magic nothing compared to the powers possessed by her mother. She sighed, allowing Dianna to brush out her hair, the action she found eased her troubled mind. Serenity Dawn, denied for so long that intimate connection most girls had with their mothers, nonetheless loved hers very much.

The dreams that haunted her nights for years continued to plague her, and the Black Lady seemed to grow ever more powerful -- if that were possible -- but the only thing protecting her was the magic of Pegasus. She didn’t understand its gravity, and how it worked, but was grateful all the same.

~*~

All was quiet in the palace at this time of day. The Shitennou were busy training as the queen spent the morning with her head Shitennou, bolstering Crystal Tokyo’s defenses. It seemed the entire capital was abuzz with activity. After the battle with the unknown nemesis on the moon those nine years before, her mother decreed that Crystal Tokyo’s spaceport be handed over to the military to run. Eventually, it became necessary to build several new spaceports throughout Japan. Only one of these would be used for commercial and civilian purposes. But this too had an armed battalion with fighters on standby to be airborne at a moment’s notice if the capital was attacked.

Interplanetary activity was frantic, the slumbering planets of the Crystal Kingdom re-awoken by the Ginzuishou, as was the Earth from ‘the great sleep’ and this meant a lot of re-building and fortification of both the cities on each world, and their defenses. Also, coinciding with all this activity, a new city was being constructed, not far from the polar outpost on the moon called, Silver Crescent City. Artemis and Luna were overseeing proceedings and there were archaeological digs on the site of the old ruins of the Silver Millennium’s former capital, Serenity city.

A new settlement was established, not far from the ancient ruins, a smaller community made up of the families of those stationed on the Lunarian sphere. The two crystal domes housed the perfect environment where plants and animals from across the galaxy thrived – these hand picked to create a compatible landscape surrounding the settlements , the first stretching some 200 kilometers in diameter and the larger over 600.

The planetary kingdoms ordered their forces to be on constant alert throughout the Crystal Kingdom as probes explored the Ortt Cloud, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

~*~

After breakfast and a jog around the training pavilion in a sweat suit, every now and again stopping to admire the young Shitennou as they trained, she returned to the palace to shower and change and went for a walk in the palace gardens. It was here she felt most at peace.

Serenity Dawn found Lord Kunzite sitting on the edge of the fountain lost in his thoughts. She stood off to one side, her hands clasped in front of her, staring into the spray emerging from the statues of her grandparents, not wishing to disturb the General.

He then caught sight of the girl and turned to greet her. He rose and bowing low, spoke in a rich baritone, “Lady, you are as beautiful as ever, much like your mother. Good morning.”

“Good morning my lord, and thank you, you are too kind, may I sit?”

Serenity wore a white knee-length wrap-around skirt, and a cream short-sleeved top, her hair hanging loose over her shoulders and falling to her hips as she nimbly threw one, then another long leg over the side of the fountain’s squat wall joining the senior Shitennou General and sighed, breathing the sweet fragrance of the morning air into her lungs. “I am troubled, Lord Kunzite and I know not what to do, or say to my mother.”

“My only advice, speak only of that which dwells within your heart. Oh, by the Kamis, please forgive me my rudeness, my lady, but happy birthday. I had completely forgotten today is your fourteenth birthday -- so preoccupied am I with matters of state,” he said, in an apologetic tone.

She smiled at him with genuine warmth and shrugged before continuing, “May I speak plainly?” she pressed.

“Please… I would be the last person to refuse you anything, lady.”

“Okay, do you think mother will be happy to see me, I mean, she ‘s not just doing this out of guilt, or something of that nature?” she asked in a small voice.

“Not at all, my lady. She is a great woman and a noble queen. She has changed, but she still loves you. Often I have seen her grow sad whenever your name is mentioned, the regret and love I have seen with my own eyes. Her voice is always filled with concern for your well-being and all she does is seek to protect you. I am surprised Diana has not explained it to you.”

“She kind of has, but not as openly as you have. Diana feels she must protect me, even from my own mother. Diana is wonderful and I love her with all my heart, but she isn’t my mom… and she has only recently married and is pregnant with her first child, and Lady Luna and Lord Artemis are so proud of her and Kyushu-chan, her husband, is a Mauan General. I am so very happy for her and the new life that awaits her. She will no doubt be busy raising her child and her over-protectiveness will wane. But for the moment, she continues to clam up on the subject of my mother.”

Kunzite seemed to be struggling with himself, his brow furrowed as he came to a decision and took the princess’s small hand in his large one and looked into her ocean-blue eyes, these shimmering orbs so like Endymion’s it made him a little nostalgic and sad. “Look Serenity Dawn, I shouldn’t really tell you this, but there is a lot of restlessness amongst the planets. Your mother is a great warrior, this is true, but she has made many enemies, both here on Earth, amongst the alliance, and outside it. The generals and I are growing concerned at her obsession with the dark blob entities. We can easily defeat these and they have been all but wiped out, but still she wants to hunt them to extinction. Not all these creatures are allied with those who took the lives of your grandparents.”

She raised a questioning eyebrow.” But I thought they were all slimy ugly evil creatures.”

“Yes, this is true. But there is a sub-species that are a different color and much smaller. She has destroyed a few of their colonies, they have never harmed anyone, or anything, and more to the point, reject the actions of their celestial counterparts. We are protecting these worlds from the hunters. It’s not only this, but there are rumblings of a possible split in the alliance and a civil war of sorts. I shouldn’t be really burdening you, but you will eventually find out. We fear her power has confused her, or is too much for her and her anger and grief is distorting her perception of what is important and what is not and quite frankly, she is putting us all in danger.”

“What do you mean?” she snapped, a few stray pink locks flying about her face as if to punctuate and add emphasis to her astonishment at his words.

“My apologies once again, my lady. But the planets of Neptune, Uranus and Pluto have seceded. Saturn has declared itself neutral. It will not help your mother bring the other kingdoms to heel. The inner Senshi are fighting a losing battle to get her to sit at the negotiating tables to hammer out a resolution to this stalemate. I fear war is imminent.”

“Oh, I didn’t know it was this bad, my lord. But what can I do, I am only a princess and a girl!”

“If you will forgive me for saying so, as you’ve awakened as a woman and Senshi Princess, as such, the power of your lineage pulses within your heart, your people here on Earth and beyond its territories may have need of you if it all goes to hell. It is likely your own abilities will eventually rival those of your mother. So, here is what I want you to do.”

~*~

Mayer was angry and slammed her door shut, and packed her things. She was going to Earth no matter what anyone thought. She was priestess of Pluto and a Senshi. She commanded respect and her mother would not stand in her way and her father was away for a month, so she was going.

~Why is it that whenever affairs of state come into the equation, that mother dearest chooses to ignore a life-long friendship, a bond nobody has the right to come between and attempt to interfere. Mother is a Senshi and father a warrior mage. They should know better than to stand in my way… to hell with their petty politics. I don’t care and I will not be dissuaded.~

She slung her pack over her shoulder. Clad in a black jumpsuit and Shitennou helmet, she jumped out of her bedroom window into the courtyard below. She moved along the crystal causeway at a pace, smiling at the citizens of Pluto as she strode with confidence towards her destination. She mingled amongst the people in the capital’s central market. The citizenry had no idea she was Crown Princess and newly elected Guardian of Time.

~*~

She stepped into the dingy old theatre and made her way towards the stage where Kumiko, Miro and Kantaro, her friends were waiting.

“Ready?” Miro questioned as Mayer sat on the stage and sighed, kicking at the carpeted floor with the toe of her boot.

“Yes, and I have everything, including the garnet rod, and thank you guys for helping me out. Daphne and my Mother will be furious. But it’s not as if we’re at war. Politics can be so childish at times,” she sighed, as the tall feline metamorph, Prince Kantaro of Calypso nodded and bowed and then carried her belongings.

She soon stood on the teleporter with her friends, and instantly, all were transported to the Plutonean fighter in orbit around Chiron.

~*~

Pan sat on the edge of the rotunda, playing a silver flute encrusted with diamonds and looked up as Serenity Dawn ran towards him and stopped, clutching at her chest to catch her breath. “I am so glad you’re here. I got a message from Mayer. She is coming to my party! I am so happy. Isn’t it grand!”

“Yes lady. You are all of fourteen years, and I wish you a wonderful birthday!”

“Thank you, Pan,” she said, hugging him as she caught sight of the two young men off to the side. “Janus, Paris!”

“Guilty as charged,” Paris replied, sweeping her into a hug and spinning her around in a circle and kissing her on both cheeks, turning her face beet-red. She loved his long black hair and boyish face. He had an impish glint in his eyes that softened her heart.

“Paris!” she admonished, then giggled.

“Hey…what about me!” cried a laughing Janus, feigning hurt as she rushed into his arms and hugged him fiercely.

She was dumbstruck. They had changed so much. Janus was well over six feet tall, strongly built, his muscular chest accentuated by his royal-blue uniform. His smile, like his eyes, bright. Beside him, a shy pretty woman she recognized as Cassandra. She was blushing profusely as she clung to Janus’s cloak. Her comely figure accentuated by a soft mauve dress of soft wool, her blonde hair glistening in the sunlight . Janus and Cassandra looked at one another and the love there could be seen by all. Cassie was the most grown up of their group. Ceres’ first-born child was seventeen and so too, Janus whom took after his mother, Vesta. He had inherited her eye color and fiery-red hair and fair complexion.

“Wow, you two are…together?” Serenity Dawn squealed, and this brought laughter from all as she jumped up and down several times on the spot as her long plaits, in that bunny-like style danced about her and gave her a most cute appearance.

“Oh yes. We are to be married, Chibi-Chibi!” Cassandra said, hugging her friend, “and you’re going to be bride’s maid!”

“I can’t get over it, my friends getting married. Remember how we used to hang out together and get into trouble. Well, now you have all grown up and… I am so happy for you!”

“Cassie is also a fine Senshi and our parents are expecting us to lead the Asteroid Senshi training academy. So, in-between studies and more besides, I have done a little traveling and have much to speak to you about, Chibi-Chibi. But more on that later.”

“It’s been over five years, and you guys managed to get away and come all this way… I am so glad. But won’t your families go nuts over your absence?” she asked, curious to hear news of the situation Lord Kunzite had hinted at earlier that day.

“Well, let’s just say, Mother and father has a lot on their plates. I am an old friend of a transport merchant and she flew us here free of charge I might add,” Paris winked at Janus conspiratorially while Cassandra rolled her eyes and Serenity Dawn giggled.

“She…ha, you mean, a girl? Oh, Paris has a girlfriend, Paris has a …” she laughed as Paris tickled her and Pan laughed uproariously, enjoying the antics of his young friends.

Paris smirked and sat on the grass and waved his friends over. They sat as Pan started playing his flute once again as they caught up.

“Well, things are hotting up at home actually. But I am sure it’s nothing,” Paris admitted.

“Rumors, they’re only rumors,” Cassandra added, stealing a glance at her fiancé.

“What, of civil war?” Serenity Dawn ventured, thinking if she didn’t come out and say it, the topic wouldn’t see the light of day.

“Where did you hear that, Sere-chan?” Paris arched an eyebrow.

“I keep an ear out, and I believe it’s got to do with an unofficial coalition, am I right!” she pressed, keeping a smile on her face.

“I’m afraid so. But we’re trying to keep a lid on it. The Pirate Cats. I mean, we can trust you.”

“Of course you can, silly. But what are, or should I ask, who are the Pirate Cats?”

“Argh-ha-mi-hearties…! Star Pirate Senshi I might say, and swashbuckling Shitennou and wizards and mages and rogues, there be plenty!” Janus winked, and gave Cassandra a hug and winning smile, “We aren’t happy with how things are moving amongst the outer planets and the non-aligned worlds. We are setting up a resistance movement in the event war breaks out. We are loyal to your mother. We're not about to turn our backs on her, even if Uranus, Neptune and their coalition have decided they can run the Crystal Kingdom far better than your mother can. As far as we’re concerned, if they declare war, they’ve committed high-treason and should be punished for it!”

“Oh, I hope it doesn’t come to that. You know, those two are the most skilled Senshi in the solar system and would give some of the Celestial Senshi a run for their money,” Serenity Dawn gasped, shaking her head in disbelief. Her friends had returned on her fourteenth birthday, but they had all changed. Janus and Cassie were to be conjoined, and like Paris, was a stellar revolutionary. It seemed a force of fifth column pirate Senshi, and Shitennou had been busy preparing for a possible interplanetary civil war that had the potential to spread well beyond the Terran system. She didn’t know what to make of it all, but she knew whose side she was on and wanted in. “I want to help, but only if it looks like war will definitely break out. Lord Kunzite is going to privately train me.”

“Yes, this might become a reality, perhaps two years, or five. But one thing is certain. It will happen. But we’ve been training for years, and I just love my cute pirate Senshi fuku,” Cassandra chuckled, and winked at the guys who grinned back.

“We’re monitoring the situation. Setting up resistance cells on all non-aligned worlds who have signed up with the non-aggression pact. We fear their governments will crumble under the political pressure brought to bear on them and will join the opponents of your mother and all of us loyal to the Crystal Alliance.” She stared wide-eyed, for this was altering her perspective quite significantly. She could picture it all. “Keshena, a Senshi queen and her neutral planets that are scattered across the galaxy are building up their arsenals and troop numbers. They think because your mother is obsessed that they can time their move to launch a series of blockades and force a surrender before a single shot is fired, a good strategy, if you’re an optimist on the side of the outer Senshi. But there are some with more deadly ambitions, so we’re monitoring these. We are young, but our Shitennou are organizing our counterforce and we’re going about it quietly. Shimai, the girl Paris and I know who got us here today is a Pirate Senshi. We are making our own preparations to save the Crystal Alliance from anarchy.”

~*~

After returning to the palace, her friends to join her later, Serenity Dawn sat on her bed. The gentle breeze brought the sweet scent of roses through the open doors that opened onto her private balcony. The air also saturated with the rich scent of Cherry Blossom was so intoxicating this time of day.

She opened the locket and listened as its beautiful magical tune that always clutched at her heart every time she heard it, swept her away upon its haunting melody, stirring a sensation she could only compare to molasses. Sweet sadness dripped from her tender heart. It was beautiful and always moved her. But today, it made her weep. Exhausted from her crying, she lay down on the soft bed within her pink marble bedchamber, and fell asleep. Her slender hands clutching the locket to her chest as she slept.

She woke with a start. Diana was padding her face with a damp cloth and Artemis was pressing a cool hand to her forehead. She was flushed, as if in a fever, a little weak, but otherwise okay.

“Child,” Luna admonished. “What have you been doing to allow yourself to fall into this state of lethargy…have you been trying to practice your magical abilities without proper coaching, or supervision?”

“No Luna, Haven’t done anything of the kind, I was tired and slept, that is all,” she whined, stuffing the locket inside her pillow behind her as the feline metamorphs tried to puzzle out what had happened.

“Mother, perhaps the anxiety over her meeting with Serenity is the reason,” Diana offered her parents.

“No matter, child, bathe, dress and Diana will do your hair and then it’s off to the throne room to meet your mother. And to think you almost slept through it. I won’t be escorting you. This is something you must do on your own. Now hurry!”

“Yes, Luna… I’m sorry.”

~*~

It had been raining, a summer storm. It rejuvenated her. Serenity Dawn felt the bracing air kiss her cheeks as she strode along the colonnades lining the outer border of the palace gardens as she breathed in its familiar sweet scent. And for this moment anyway, it was good to be alive. A kind of brief respite she hoped would sustain her before the meeting with her mother. She didn’t want to be late, not now, and quickened her pace. It would not do to keep Queen Serenity waiting. She attempted to quell the fiery tempest within as her body began to tremble. She was a nervous wreck.

The white marble halls looked forbidding as she stooped to avoid a rain sodden branch, laden with the fragrant spring blooms she loved so well.

Suddenly, she was flanked by Lord Jadeite and Lord Nephrite, “Be brave princess, your mother is just as anxious as you I assure you,” Nephrite told her and winked as he stood upon the threshold, “Good luck…”

“You’ll be all right. Remember, she loves you very much and enjoy the celebrations and I hope you will dance with all of us,” Jadeite bowed, offering a big smile.

Blushing, she nodded her thanks and smiled back at the two Shitennou, whom had become not only her loyal protectors, but good friends as well. “Thank you, Jad and Neph, I really appreciate your encouragement… Well, here I go!”

She had her heart in her mouth as the sound of her clicking heels echoed across the expanse that lay between herself and her stunningly beautiful mother. The distance more one measured in time and emotion than actual physical space.

And there she was, the legendary warrior queen and looking every part the regal monarch, her beauty radiating about her. She could see the corona of silvery light flash at the precise moment eye contact was made between them. Her mother’s indigo satin evening dress was very pretty she thought as she distracted herself with ephemeral matters to stop her shaking. Queen Serenity of the Crystal Kingdom’s hair falling in ringlets about her hips, a crescent staff in her hand, silver sandals adorning her feet and the Ginzuishou around her neck, nestled in the crook of her breasts.

Serenity Dawn looked to her mother’s hands, and noticed they were shaking and her heart melted. Without a second thought, all the fear, all the sadness, all the anxiety and all the love came out in a burst of affection and desperation combined as she cried out, “Mommy!”

She immediately broke into a run. At this, her mother set the staff aside, and leapt the dozen steps off the platform supporting her amethyst throne to the floor below and both cried tears of joy as they embraced, kissed one another and laughed together. “Oh, my beautiful Chibi-Chibi! I love you so much! How I’ve missed you, my darling child!”

“Mommy, just love me…never leave me alone, ever again… I love you so much, mommy!”

Mother and daughter clung together crying, and laughing, a cascade of emotions unleashed. In the background, from a discrete distance, smiling faces looked on. There would be many tears this night, but these would be of joy for a change.

Artemis and Luna, arms about one another as they too were crying, Diana and even the silent Generals were moved while allowing mother and daughter their long-awaited moment of reunion.

“I have so many questions, and I never want to leave your side,” Serenity Dawn said, hick-ups punctuating her words as both broke into giggles.

“I am so glad you don’t hate me, and I never expected you to understand my reasons. But I underestimated you. I also know of your terrible dreams, as I too have shared these, always finding myself out of range and unable to help you. Perhaps we can fight Black Lady together. But even she can’t come between us any longer. You are Senshi, and my precious child all grown up. Look at you!”

“Mother… I think we could pass as sisters you know, you only look a couple of years older than I.”

“Keep that up and I will promote you to head Senshi!” she laughed, stroking her daughter’s soft face with her fingertips. It was true, she was lovely, intelligent and her presence was all the more wondrous, and she knew Serenity Dawn could defend herself as her Star Seed was enlivened. Black Lady couldn’t touch her. She felt the power of the Ginzuishou protecting them both. But there was something new, yet it was all too familiar. It was something about the aura surrounding her child. It was comforting, safe and loving and then it struck her -- Helios.

They spent an hour talking about everything, family, their hopes and fears, likes and dislikes and the people in each of their lives that meant something to them and much more besides.

Later, linking arms, they walked into the reception hall where a lavish banquet was set out before the Queen and her daughter, a landscape of culinary delights from all over the Crystal Kingdom awaiting their pleasure. All rose and gave them a standing ovation. Serenity Dawn blushed. The Shitennou performing a well-rehearsed salute and the sound of, ~Salutations to the warrior queen, Serenity and her most enchanting daughter, Princess Serenity Dawn,~ resounded throughout the room as the two monarchs took their places at the queen’s table.

~*~

Mayer strode along the corridor with Kantaro, Kumiko, and Miro in tow. They were soon joined by Janus, Cassandra and Paris.

“I think she is going to be so happy to see you and meet you guys as well,” Paris smiled as he led Miro, dressed in a long black gown into the banquet hall, Kumiko’s eyes fluttered girlishly as she eyed the Shitennou and noblemen and soon her eyes found Serenity Dawn and, yes, her mother. She couldn’t believe it.

“Hey guys… I think you better grab something, for you’re not going to believe what I see…take a look at the queen’s table!” Miro said, in a disembodied voice.

“Mayer! Hey guys! Come sit,” Serenity Dawn cried enthusiastically as her mother smiled at the party now taking their places at the table. “Mother, you know most of these guys.”

“Yes I do, welcome! But I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting your other friends, Sere,” her mother said, as Kantaro, tall and magnificent, his long black tresses floating about his lean body smiled and bowed.

“Okay, this is Prince Kantaro, he is here with his sisters, Princesses Kumiko and Miro from Calypso. Say hi guys, don’t be shy,” Mayer prompted her young friends.

Kantaro was a year older than Serenity Dawn, and Miro his younger sister by only a few hours as the queen and princess of the Crystal Kingdom were to discover. Kumiko, was two years her brother’s senior, a raven-haired beauty and all three had the same dark hair, dusky complexion and golden eyes. After introductions were over, all began chatting animatedly over a delicious three-course meal as the night moved into full swing.

Motoki then introduced the night’s entertainment as master of ceremonies. Soon the Inner Senshi put in an appearance. Rei and Jadeite moved onto the dance floor first, performing a solo ‘Fire Tango’ especially written for the couple. Then Makoto and Nephrite stunned the audience with a stylized Foxtrot. Makoto with her spaghetti-strapped white evening gown, with its gorgeous bodice, ruffled neckline and beautiful white cape with emeralds lining its borders. Rei’s body hugging outfit, metallic gold left little to the imagination, a hip-length slit that showed off a lot of leg, her raven-black hair shining in the light of the chandelier. Minako and Mercury, with Kunzite and Zoicite respectively, the girls clad in backless shimmering silver and rose evening gowns won applause from the audience as well. Fashionably sexy and elegant, the Generals in violet dress Uniform, the new motifs and cut of their outfits accentuated their powerful physiques and had the women drooling. As for the Senshi, they were each in their elements as dance after dance, those within the room focused on the majestic couples as they moved across the crystal floor to the Moon Waltz.

After this, the main course was served and then it was the Queen and Lord Turquoise along with Serenity Dawn and a tall and handsome Pan as they danced to the cheers and applause of the entire chamber. Kantaro danced with Mayer, and all paired off. Serenity Dawn wished this night could last forever, but knew that eventually it would all change. She pushed the thought aside as she caught a look from her mother and smiled back.
