Memoirs of a Teenage Rockstar by InukiTenchi

previous  Butterflies and Blue Eyes  next

They were all set for their first performance. Correction, their first ‘BIG’ performance. Usually they just played at friends’ parties, nothing too stressful; just playing for fun really. Out of the whole group, Kagome Higurashi was the most nervous, as one could tell if they were to look to her hands which were currently wringing the life from the bottom of her shirt. Nervous with good reason, however. Tonight they were playing at a popular teen hangout called The Crazy Eights.

The place was famous for having up and coming bands, two well-known local bands already having been scooped up by the music industry, SHIKON. Rumor had it if you got your bands’ name became well known enough, the director Tsubaki Aono herself would come to watch your performance. And if luck were to be on your side, she would ask to sign you right then and there.

Sango, Miroku and Shippo had just arrived to the scene and were looking their best in casual wear as they walked in the door. Sango was flaunting her white flared skirt, silver lace up ballerina slip ons, and one of her favorite black shirts with a white fairy decorating the front. She had split her hair into two French-braids, leaving the very ends curled.

As for Miroku, a guy of fairly simple taste in his choice of dress, was casually wearing a tight-fitting black muscle shirt and khaki shorts with his favorite dark blue Chucks. He was also sporting sunglasses on top of his head, which Sango proceeded to tease him for, one brow raised as she did so.

"Well, you act like a child, I suppose it’s fitting that you look like one too, neh Houshi?" she taunted with a chuckle.

"You think so, Taijiya?" he retorted with a lecherous smirk. "Well perhaps we should find a room and I’ll show you just how childish I can be."

He waggled his brows at her with a wink, making her blush. "D-dream on pervert…" she stammered, crossing her arms over her chest, cheeks still visibly pink. Miroku put his hand up with a chuckle, a single digit raised.

"One point Miroku; Sango zip. And I must say that shade of pink is quite lovely on your countenance, my dear Sango." She just huffed and turned her head the other way, arms crossed over her chest. "Oh shut up…"

Shippo just laughed with a shake his head. This sort of bantering was an everyday thing for the two teens. When they’d finally realize what everyone else had, he’d never know. They argued like an old married couple at times, yet refused to admit liking one another. Kagome laughed at her friends’ antics, then pulled Sango aside. "I didn't have time to change my clothes at the house. I was helping mom with dinner. Can you come with me to the bathroom?" she asked, giving her best friend big, blue puppy eyes.

With a roll of her own chocolate-colored eyes, Sango chuckled and agreed. "Fine, fine. You can’t go anywhere by yourself can you, Kags?"

"You know me too well," Kagome replied, rubbing the back of her head in a sheepish manner. "That, and I’d rather not because, you know."

"Yeah, yeah. I know," voiced Sango, understanding her friends’ reasons.

She sighed, then put an arm around Kagome and headed for the bathroom. She called back to the boys as they walked, telling them to go ahead and start setting up. Their instruments were still in her van, so they’d have to be moved from there to the stage. Shippo and Miroku waved them off with a nod, angelic faces in place. What the brown-eyed girl hadn’t seen were the fingers crossed behind their backs.

Once in the bathroom, Kagome showed Sango the clothes she had brought with her. "What do you think? Not too simple is it?" she asked, holding up a shimmering silver halter-top held together in the back by a single strap.

"No way! That’s gorgeous. Where did you get it?" Sango inquired, eyes excited as she ran a hand over the shiny material. Kagome laughed and draped it carefully over her slender arm.

"It was a birthday gift from Ayumi last year. I’d almost forgotten about it, but found it in my closet last minute. I’ll have to remember to thank her again."

And with that, she slipped into an empty stall to change, emerging some time later sporting the shimmering top along with a pair of red faded jeans. She paused at the sink for a second, long enough to pull on her checkered slip-on Vans.

"Okay, hair and make-up time?"

After Sango fluffed and brushed her hair for what felt like the hundredth time, she stepped back to look in the mirror and admire her friends’ work.

"Hmm. Not bad Sango," Kagome smiled, fussing with the side tendrils that had fallen from her messy bun. A little gloss for her full lips, some mascara to make her azure eyes pop and she was set.

"Perfect! I’d say we’re ready to rock this place."

Kagome smiled at her friends’ enthusiasm, giving her a nod. "Aside from the feeling of butterflies strongly protesting their captivity in my stomach… Yes." They laughed at that, checking their reflections one last time before exiting the bathroom.

Meanwhile, a boy of about 18 had pulled up in front of a club. He had long moonlight colored hair, pulled back into a low ponytail under a backwards ball cap. Amber eyes stood out in shocking contrast from under his pale bangs. 'Hmm... This place is certainly different. Looks like a good spot to hang out, I guess...' His honey-colored eyes caught sight of a sign that read: Performing Tonight- The Demonic Angels!

"Interesting..." he contemplated with a smirk, one pearly fang overlapping his lower lip.

"Well, since I'm here I might as well check it out, right?" he mused before parking his cherry red, shimmer finish Shelby Mustang, and proceeded inside. ‘This is quaint. Well at least it seems like there's lots of people my age here...' He looked around for a bit, seemingly uninterested, until his gaze fell on her.

She was helping move instruments backstage it looked like, and wow, was she was beautiful. Her hair was black as midnight, pulled up into a cute style, but it was her eyes that drew him to her. They were a lovely shade of blue, a highly unusual occurrence for a girl of Japanese descent. "Hey, Sango! Is that everything?" the raven-haired beauty hollered to a taller girl; he assumed said girl to be her friend.

"Yeah! Except for my keyboard and acoustic guitar. Goddamn Miroku and Shippo! I trusted them to at least START unloading! But noooo. Ugh. Kagome, can you give me a hand with this?" She had to strain her voice over the music, lightly muscled arms trying to support a large amp.

"Sure!" said the slightly out of breath girl, now known as Kagome, as she hopped off of the stage to help her friend.

In the meantime, Miroku and Shippo, were grabbing a bite to eat, Miroku flirting shamelessly with the college-aged waitress. "So… what do you say, my dear? Would you like to bear my children?" The waitress raised an eyebrow before looking to Shippo, who apologized for his friend.

"Ignore him, he’s an idiot. Anyways… Could we get a large basket of chili fries and…" he trailed off, looking to said idiot.

"Two large cokes," Miroku finished for him, before trying to dazzle the young waitress again with his dark blue eyes.

"Are you sure you won’t consider my offer?" he pressed, sending a wink her way.

She just rolled her own eyes and replied, "Sorry sugar, but I think you’re a bit too young for me." And with a shake of her head she walked off, their order in hand.

Just then, Sango and Kagome walked up, Sango fuming as she grabbed Miroku’s ear. "And just what was that you pervert?" Miroku smiled innocently, taking Sango’s hand in his own.

"Why my dear Sango, I have no idea what you are referring to." Shippo and Kagome face-palmed, preparing for the inevitable argument… but it never came. Sango sighed and pulled her hands from his, moving over by Kagome with a mutter. "Whatever…" Kagome, sensing Sango’s upset, gave Miroku a warning look, which he shrugged at.

"Oh, and by the way guys… Thanks SO much for helping with the instruments that you said YOU were going to take care of and set up for us," Kagome said in a frighteningly sweet voice dripping with sarcasm. Miroku and Shippo exchanged guilty looks, knowing they were likely to get a verbal bashing. They had just opened their mouths to apologize when they heard a low rumbling coming from across the table.

They looked at Sango and saw a faint blush creep up over her cheeks, then burst out laughing. "It's not funny you damned idiots! While you two were slacking off, and FLIRTING, me and Kags were going hungry because we were slaving to unload the van!" At this point, both boys had ducked just below the table and were staring timidly at the brown-eyed girl, whose face was red with frustration.

As if coming to their rescue, the waitress set the order down on the table, then turned to the girls. "Can I get anything for you darlin’s? Some bug spray perhaps?" she asked, referring to the two males hiding behind the table. That broke the tension, Sango’s irritation fading as she looked to Kagome. They sharied a look before breaking out in gales of laughter.

Miroku apologized repeatedly and, after a few moments, convinced Sango to let him buy her a strawberry-banana smoothie, knowing she loves them. She gave him a withered stare but eventually forgave him, giving the waitress her order. It arrived soon, along with Kagome’s drink, just in time for the fries had made her thirsty. Said raven-haired girl sipped her Sprite quietly, nibbling on a fry here and there.

"Nervous Kags?" inquired Shippo with a smile. "You don’t seem to have much of an appetite." Her lips curved slightly as she looked at their younger friend. "Just a bit. I’m more excited than anything right now though."

Everyone nodded in agreement. "I can’t believe we finally got an actual gig. I was a little surprised when they called us," Miroku said with a smile, leaning back in his chair.

"Yeah… Who knew?" chuckled Sango as she sipped at her smoothie. Shippo then held his soda up for a toast. "Here’s to us, to all of our hard work in getting here."

"I’ll toast to that. To us," Kagome said with a small laugh, clanging her plastic cup against friends'.

Not even a minute later a slap was heard and Shippo and Kagome sighed and shook their heads. "Chikuso, Miroku!"

"What Sango? It was innocent I swear. It was just a good luck tap, really," he stammered, sweat-dropping as she turned and glared at him. He hovered slightly in his chair, prepared to jump out of the way should she strike, but she never did.

He looked up in surprise, the others watching in silence as Sango got up and walked away from the table in a huff before yelling over her shoulder. "Arrrgh! You’re such a jerk!"

"Uh-oh…" commented Shippo, watching as Kagome got up to go after her friend.

"Sango, wait up!" called Kagome, catching her friend by the arm and pulling her aside. She didn’t say anything until they reached the bathroom, Kagome checking the stalls for privacy before looking to the other girl. "Daijoubu?"

Sango just sighed, then looked up in the mirror and at her friends’ reflection. "Why does he have to be like that…? Why can’t he just be… ugh, normal?"

Kagome’s lips curved slightly as she tried to lighten the tension. "Umm, because he’s Miroku…?" Sango snorted a bit at that and shook her head, braids swinging side to side.

"I suppose…"

Kagome quirked an eyebrow at her friend, already knowing the answer to the question she was about to ask. "You really care about him don’t you?" Sango stayed quiet for a moment, taking a deep breath as she reapplied some gloss to her lips. "I… I guess… It just wouldn’t work though. He’s too much of a womanizer… I wouldn’t want to be hurt that way…"

"Oh I dunno about that..." Kagome pondered, one hand to her face. "Lately the only one he’s like that to is you."

"Whatever you say, Kagome," Sango sighed, small smile on her face as they walk back out. "Anyways, we have a show to do right?"

"Will The Demonic Angels please report to the stage in five minutes?!" boomed a voice, later discovered to be the mangers’, through the speakers.

The amber eyed youth from earlier was sipping his coke, taking a look around as he waited for the show to start. 'Hmm... I wonder where that girl from earlier went. Did she already leave? Chikuso, I hope not… I was hoping to talk to her.'

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a loud introduction over the intercom. "Everybody, please put your hands together to welcome The Demonic Angels!"

Ten seconds later, the curtain was drawn back and boy couldn't believe his eyes. 'It's her!? So that’s why she was unloading all those instruments earlier. She's part of the band. Makes sense. Heh.’

He watched as Sango walked onto the stage after her friend, acoustic guitar in hand. Miroku was at his drum set, waving out to the crowd with one hand, drumsticks twirling in the other.

Kagome approached the mic with a faintly nervous smile, before starting her own little announcement, Shippo stepping up on her right with his bass guitar. "Thank you for having us Crazy Eights! This is our first time playing here, so we hope you enjoy our performance! We're gonna start this off with a bit of a dance number. Please enjoy!"

She smiled, then turned to her band mates, and with a nod, a sign for them to start the music. "Two, three, four." Guitar beat began, creating a good dance rhythm as the drums tapped in the background. Kagome smiled and looked to Sango, their voices harmonizing for the opening lines.

K&S- *Woo-hoo ooo, woo-hoo.
Woo-hoo ooo, woo-hoo.
K- Well my heart knows me better than I know myself,
So I’m gonna let it do all the talking.
K&S- (Woo-hoo ooo, woo-hoo.)

K- I came across a place in the middle of nowhere,
With a big black horse and a cherry tree.
K&S- (Woo-hoo ooo, woo-hoo.)

K- I felt a little fear upon my back.
I said ‘Don’t look back, just keep on walking.’

It wasn’t long before the crowd began to gather and dance around the stage, the tempo of the song giving a good pulse to move to. Red, green, and blue lights were flashing off and on to said beat, Kagome dancing around the stage in time with the music as she sang. She looked to the guys as their line came up, laughter in her voice as the next verse poured from her lips.

K- *When the big black horse said looked this way, he said,
M&Sh- ‘Hey, little lady. Will you marry me?’
K&S- (Woo-hoo ooo, woo-hoo.)

K- But I said,
K&S- ‘No… no. No… no-no-no.’
K- I said, ‘No… no. You’re not the one for me.’
K&S- ‘No… no. No… no-no-no.’
K- I said, ‘No… no. You’re not the one for me…’*

Kagome smiled and pointed to her friends in turn at those words. She chuckled a bit, moving back to center stage and twirling before looking back to the audience, hips shaking with the beat as she sang.

She held a hand to her chest for emphasis and held the mic up high, as if singing to the roof. The audience was clapping their hands in time now as they danced, a few of them crowding around the stage. Kagome looked down to them and smiled appreciatively, pointing a finger to the crowd and shaking her head as she repeated lyrics.

K- *And it said,
K&S- ‘No… no. No… no-no-no.’
K- It said, ‘No… no. You’re not the one for me.’
K&S- ‘No… no. No… no-no-no.’
K- It said, ‘No… no. You’re not the one for me…’

She gripped the mic tight, shaking her head side to side as she sang, Sango echoing behind her occasionally. She turned and put a hand up as if waving goodbye to the audience, taking a few steps away from them. The lights continued to flash, blue and green on the audience, red on Kagome as she moved around the stage. Sango and Shippo continued to strum their guitars, Miroku keeping in time with his drumbeat.

She did another twirl, hips rocking side to side as she walked back to the edge of the stage, crouching down to be more level with the audience. She smiled, reaching out to touch a boys’ hand, voice strong as she belted out the lyrics and slowly rose back up. She caught a flash of white as she stood, and found her own blue eyes locking with a pair of amber ones. He was watching her intently as she sang, small smile on his lips when she looked his way. ‘Who’s that?’ She wondered, but kept singing as she moved, pausing back at her original place on the stage.

K- *Big black horse… and a cherry tree.
I can’t quite get there ‘cause my heart’s forsaken me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
S- (Woo-hoo)

K- Big black horse,
S- (Woo-hoo.)
K- And a cherry tree….
S- (Woo-hoo.)
K- I can’t quite get there ‘cause my heart’s forsaken me!*

Her voice echoed out as she posed at the mic stand, the crowd erupting into cheers. Kagome gave them a smile, a small bead of sweat running down her exposed back from the heat of the stage lights. "Thank you! It’s been a pleasure performing for you and we hope to be back soon!" Kagome called out, taking a bow with her friends before setting the mic back in its’ place and exiting the stage with the others.

‘This is the best night ever,’ she thought, smiling giddily as she and Sango headed off to get a drink. Miroku and Shippo were left to pack the instruments they had earlier neglected, neither one seeming to mind much as the cheers echoed in their ears.

The girls seated themselves and ordered two ‘victory’ root beer floats. Sango excused herself to go to the restroom and during those moments, Kagome looked around for the white-haired boy she had seen while onstage. However, her spirits dropped when she didn't see any sign of him. ‘Man… He must have left right after the show...’

She pouted, then jumped slightly as she felt two hands cover her eyes. Thinking it was Sango playing a joke, she turned around with a sarcastic laugh. "Ha ha very f…" she trailed off as she found herself looking at not brown, but honey-colored eyes.

"Ehe. You’re not Sango," she stammered a bit, feeling a bit silly for her mistake as a blush made its’ way over her cheeks. He merely chuckled, asking if he could join her. At her nod, he took a seat. "No, I’m not. I thought I’d introduce myself though." He held a hand out to her.

"I’m Inuyasha Taisho. You were pretty good up there." She gave him a whisper of a smile, placing her hand in his.

"Thank you. I’m Kagome, Kagome Higurashi. Nice to meet you." His heart fluttered for a couple beats as she smiled, and fought back a small blush. "So uhh… How long have you guys been a band?"

"Oh, about five years. Originally it was just me and Sango though. Miroku joined almost a year after," she answered, sipping her drink. "That’s cool. I was in a band back home for a bit," he informed her; he smiled, finding her easy to talk to. They chatted for a long time, after awhile forgetting that they had just met; it felt like they’d known each other for years.

Meanwhile Sango, who had seen the white-haired youth walk up to Kagome, decided to go get Miroku so they could listen in. "They look like they're getting along well. Why don't we go introduce ourselves, Sango? He looks like a nice enough guy," stated a slightly amused Miroku, watching as Kagome laughed at something the boy had just said.

"Because, then Kagome would know we were listening in on their conversation... Duh, Miroku."

Sango looked like she was thinking hard, eyes narrowed as she focused. "Hmm, we need to make a subtle approach, so... let's try and sneak around the other way. That way, we're facing her when she sees us. Then she never has to know we were spying."

"You play spy games a lot I see," said the dark eyed boy with a smirk.

"And you’ll be playing I SPY from the bottom of the ocean if you don't get your hand off my ass, you goddamned hentai!" the infuriated girl shouted as she slapped his wondering hand away.

"My deepest apologies Sango. I just couldn't resist," he said with a wink.

"Resist this!" Sango blushed, then swung, slapping him once more. "Filthy lecherous idiot... Ugh."

Then she straightened up and turned to face him. "Alright, let’s go. Oh, and if you place so much as one more finger on me, I'll beat the absolute shit out of you."

"Fair enough..." sighed Miroku, before following her through the club, doing his best to keep his eyes off her backside.

Surprisingly, they didn’t have too much trouble as they snuck around to the other side. They ran into a couple people, tossing a quick ‘Gomen,’ over their shoulder as they went.

"Whew!" said Sango after a few moments, as they paused on the other side. "What do you say we get a soda before busting up Kagome's little romance charade?" Miroku suggested with a small laugh, slightly winded from all the sneaking.

"Yeah, sure why not. Although my root beer float is still sitting over there with Kags," she replied with a pout, looking across the room to where her drink sat untouched. He merely laughs, then grabs her hand. "Well then let’s just get you another one shall we?"

"Well aren’t you mister chivalrous all the sudden," she commented sarcastically with a roll of her eyes, before walking with him to sit up at the bar, waiting while he made their order. "Neh, Miroku?"

"Yes, dear Sango?" he asks, turning back to her with a boyish smile.

"Anou… I was wondering… Why are you always such a pervert?" she questioned, then dropped her eyes to the counter, grateful for when her drink is set before her.

Silence met her ears, and she considers telling him to forget it… when he answers. "Does it bother you so much Sango…?"

"It’s just… I…" She takes a breath, getting ready to tell him all, worrying her lip a bit between her teeth. "You see…"

She never finished her sentence, for at that very moment, the manager of the club walked up to the two of them. He looked as white as a ghost. "You two... You're from that band... The Demonic Angels... right?" he said between gasps of air, leaning against the bar for support.

"Yes sir, we are. Is something the matter?" Sango asked, quirking a brow at him. He looked both relieved and nervous, regarding the pair before him.

"Yes, actually. The group that's supposed to be playing in ten minutes had to cancel on me last minute. I was hoping that you and the rest of your band could fill in. I'd be willing to pay you for your time. What do you say?"

The two teens glanced at each other, nodded, then Sango spoke with a soft smile. "Of course we'll help you, but hang onto your money. We're just glad to be getting more publicity."

"Thank you so much! I don't know how I could ever repay you," gushed the young manager with appreciation.

"Don't worry about it. It's our pleasure," said Miroku with a grin, then ushered Sango off to find Shippo, their conversation temporarily forgotten.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha had already pretty much told Kagome the story of his life and they were still deep in conversation with each other while, unknown to her, the others were looking for a certain fox demon.

"I see... so then you just moved here? How do you like it so far?" asked Kagome with a warm smile, finishing off her drink.

"Yeah. At first I was a little pessimistic, but then I met you and I have a feeling I'm really gonna like it here," Inuyasha replied enthusiastically to a blushing Kagome, then realizing what he said, mirrored her blush.

After a couple moments of silence, Inuyasha was snapped back to reality as he tried to process her question. "So do you always wear that hat?" Kagome asked, gesturing to the slightly faded cap atop his head.

'Should I tell her? Ehh… maybe not yet.’ He looked at her with a smirk, deciding to be playful in order to dodge the question. "Do you always look this cute when you’re curious?" He smiled inwardly at her reaction, watching the pink hue cross her cheeks slowly. Previous question momentarily forgotten, she quietly cleared her throat before moving to another one.

"So what high school are you going to?" He straightened up in his seat, thankful for the change in subject, then grinned before answering. "Well, it's this school on the other side of town. It's called…"

But she never got the answer to her question, because just then Sango, Miroku, and Shippo ran up, panting a bit. Sango was the first one able to speak, one hand over her pounding heart. "Kagome... we have to... get back on stage... now." Said girl looked to them with worried eyes, then was surprised when her friend smiled and proceeded to explain the whole thing.

"Really, Sango? They want us to perform another song for them?! That's great! How 'bout that one we wrote together back in the day?" giggled an excited Kagome, momentarily forgetting her new companion.

"Sure! It’s not a hundred percent ready, but I think it’ll be good. We already moved everything back to the stage as well," responded Sango, brown eyes shining with excitement.

"Alright then, let’s go!" shouted Kagome, jumping up and down happily after leaving her seat. She turned to her new friend, still smiling that million-watt smile of hers. He nodded, saying he’d grab a good seat as they headed off to the stage.

As soon as they were ready, Miroku gave the manager a thumbs up and he made another announcement. "Everyone, the next band listed couldn’t make it tonight. But please welcome back... The Demonic Angels." With that, the curtain dropped and the crowd cheered, seeming not to have a problem with the program change.

'Wow! I guess they really liked us earlier. Haha,' thought Kagome. She looked to Sango, whom nodded, and then the others, before talking into the mic.

"Feel free to grab a partner for this song. It’s a bit of a slow one." Sango began on her keyboard, quickly followed by Miroku on the drums, soft melody playing as Kagome began, Shippo joining in with his electric guitar as she sang the lyrics.

K- *I’ll be your dream,
I’ll be your wish,
I’ll be your fantasy…

I’ll be your hope,
I’ll be your love,
K&S- Be everything that you need…*

Sango joined in after a few seconds, her voice adding a nice pitch alongside Kagome’s, the two taking turns with the lyrics. Couple slowly formed around the stage, slow dancing to the hauntingly beautiful song. The lights dimmed a bit, a pale purple light on Kagome as she sang, illuminating her eyes.

*S- I love you more with every breath…
Truly, madly, deeply, do…

K- I will be strong,
I will be faithful…
Because I’m counting on a new begininng…

S- A reason for living…
A deeper meaning, yeah…*

Their voices harmonized perfectly as they sang out the chorus, the stage lights moving slowly and softly over the group. Inuyasha even felt he had to hand it to Sango. She could sing just as well as Kagome, their voices resonating strikingly well together. He looked around, seeing some people that were just sitting had taken out their phones or a lighter and were waving them gently side to side.

The girls swayed back and forth lightly to the music as they sang, Kagome’s blue eyes closing for a moment as she smiled out at the audience. Her smile widened a bit as she caught sight of amber eyes watching her, smile gracing his lips as well. She returned his gaze, moving slowly around the stage as the lyrics fell from her lips.

K- *Oh can’t you see it baby?
K&S- You don’t have to close your eyes…
‘Cause it’s standing right before you…

K- All that you need will surely come.
I’ll be your dream,
I’ll be your wish,
I’ll be your fantasy…

I’ll be your hope,
I’ll be your love,
K&S- Be everything that you need…

K- I love you more with every breath…
Truly, madly, deeply, do…*

Kagome reached a hand out to the crowd, her and Sango harmonizing as they repeated the chorus a couple times, light shining against the main disco ball, sending a glitter of lights all over the room.

Inuyasha glanced at his watch and groaned, seeing it was getting late. ‘I should have unpacked earlier… Man.’ He sighed, then looked back to the stage where Kagome was still singing. ‘Well, she mentioned they were performing next week… Guess I’ll have to catch her then.’ He rose from his seat with a bit of a pout, then heads out with one final glance back at her. ‘Kagome Higurashi… Be seeing you soon.’ He smiled, then exited the doors and headed out to his car.

S- *I wanna stand with you on a mountain.
I wanna bathe with you in the sea.
I wanna lay like this forever…
Until the sky falls down on me.

K&S- I wanna stand with you on a mountain…*

As the last note echoed out, people stopped dancing and turned to the stage to show their appreciation with applause. Kagome smiled at her friends, everyone rising to take a bow before thanking their audience. After stepping off stage, she directed her eyes to where she’d last seen Inuyasha, a bit of disappointment going through her as she saw he wasn’t there.

'Hmmm... He must have already left. Guess I’ll just hafta wait til next week to see him when we perform again…’She sighed a bit, then went to help the others reload the instruments before sliding into the front seat of Sango’s van. Sango shot her a knowing glance and chuckled, unable to help herself as she began a line of questions. "So did that guy ask you out? He seemed really nice. Did you give him your number? Does he go to our school? When are you going to see him again?"

Miroku finally stopped her by asking a question himself. "Neh, Kagome. What was the guys’ name? I don’t think I’ve seen him before." Kagome gave him a small smile, thankful for the less embarrassing inquiry. "His name’s Inuyasha Taisho. And he just moved here."

"I see. That’s cool. Say, anyone else kind of hungry?" Kagome said she was fine, but the others nodded, so Sango headed to Wacdonalds.

After they finished eating, they drove to Kagome's house to drop her off. "We'll see you tomorrow Kags!" said Sango, handing Kagome her small bag filled with her other change of clothes. Kagome paused, giving her friend a puzzled look, then a lightbulb went off.

"Oh yeah. First day of school." She smiled, then waved to her friends before heading up the shrine steps.

"See you guys tomorrow!" Glad to be home, she slipped her shoes off before heading to her room and grabbing some clothes for a quick shower. Around fifteen minutes later, she stepped out of a room full of steam, pajamas on and a towel on her head. "Mmm… That was just what I needed…"

Flopping down on her bed with a chuckle as she saw Buyo already there, she curled up under the covers. ‘Now for a good night's rest. I've got a long week ahead of me before next week’s performance… And seeing Inuyasha again...'

She giggled to herself, soon falling asleep with a faint blush on her cheeks, flashes of amber eyes visiting her in her dreams. Little did she know that they would be seeing the white-haired youth a lot sooner than previously thought; And so she merely dreamed…
