Summary:
The air seems filled with whirling crystal, shining violet in the dying sunlight. At the center of it all is a large, dark figure, surrounded by sparkling glass fragments.
My breath catches in my throat. It is a man, a tall thin man, his brown coat rippling around him as he falls toward the flagstones below. His long, angular limbs flail weakly in the wind and his head falls back, the shining shards surrounding him in a cloud of light that catches his short forest-green hair.
Spike.

Author's Comments:
A Cowboy Bebop story, and my first non-Sailormoon fanfiction. This is a retelling of the anime episode "Ballad of Fallen Angels," shown through the eyes of Faye Valentine.
I was watching this episode the other day, and during the climactic scene at the end, I suddenly realized: Faye is outside. She's on the ground, seeing all this from below. What is she thinking at that moment? What is her reaction? In this story, I try to explore her view of these events.
Thanks go to Starsea, and to my dad, although he will probably never see this page, for beta-reading this story.

The fact that the story is in the present tense adds to the tension and pace, never letting the reader stop and rest for one second as Faye is caught up in events beyond her control. The description of Spike falling from the window is both beautiful and brea... (more) |

I liked it. It gives an answer to how Spike managed to survive the fall, and how Faye felt about finding out the truth about his past. Now, if you could just do one for the last episode.... :D |
